- BMW X1: The cheapest new BMW, and the most useful. Firm ride, and options inflate it fast.
- Lincoln Corsair: An Escape underneath, with far better sound insulation and seats. Priced used like neither.
- Volvo XC40: Clever storage and excellent seats in a small footprint. The infotainment is slow.
- Audi Q3: Standard quattro and a proper interior. Small boot, and options were expensive new.
